The "Superbad" star is writing and producing a remake of "21 Jump Street,", the '80s-era television cop show that Johnny Depp would probably like expunged from his IMDB record. Hill previously spoke with MTV News about the film, describing it as a straight-up comedy akin to the upcoming "Land of the Lost" remake. But for "Jump Street" stalwarts who can't handle the film taking a comedic tone, Hill's got some bad news -- the show itself was always a comedy, he insists.

"Yeah, if you look at the opening episode of '21 Jump Street,' you see a man looking at a picture of a cop holding a little boy’s hand, and you hear a crazy saxophone solo, and you pan up and it’s Johnny Depp looking at the picture playing the crazy saxophone solo," Hill laughingly recalled in an interview with Complex. "We're not even spoofing the movie. It's not strictly comedic, either. We're doing a full-on action movie, blowing s*** up."

Hill previously mentioned to MTV that he'd been approached for the remake because Sony Pictures wanted a funny take on "21 Jump Street." And while that may have been the initial draw for the actor, Hill tells Complex that the deal has now changed.
